I always had this idea to photograph an edgy couple on a Harley Davidson motorbike.
But, you can’t just stage such a thing. I mean, for one, at least one part of the couple needs to be able to actually ride a motorbike, right? I’ve learnt over the years that fate works in mysterious ways, which was once again proven when I met Marloes and Sebastien in Cape Town. Before I knew it, those two randomly suggested: “But what if we take a motorbike and ride it down to Jonkershoek Valley… You know, go for a motorbike adventure!” *DING* and off we went, headed for our motorbike adventure in Cape Town – cheers universe!
Elopement photographer South Africa
As an elopement photographer in South Africa, I love these kind of missions as they always bring something different to the scene. In the vastly versatile landscapes of our country, you’ll always find the perfect backdrop. And as expected, the Jonkershoek Valley didn’t disappoint. We drove the winding roads, zigzagging through the landscape and had such fun. This adventure, was the perfect afternoon leading up to their Cape Town elopement day.
Fun fact: I photographed all the driving images while sitting in the trunk of a moving car.
Important Fact: We were on a very quiet road, driving in a ‘walking pace’.
On the way there and when at speed, Marloes & Sebas were wearing helmets – of course.
Life’s like a road that you travel on
When there’s one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your back to the wind
There’s a world outside every darkened door
Where blues won’t haunt you anymore
Where the brave are free and lovers soar
Come ride with me to the distant shore
We won’t hesitate to break down the garden gate
There’s not much time left today
Life is a highway
I want to ride it all night long
If you’re going my way
Well, I want to drive it all night long
