I’m not just here to take your photos. I am about helping you create a customised experience that is all about who the two of you are as people. This is not going to be a cookie-cutter wedding exercise, there are no ‘rigid packages’ or molds you need to fit into. Instead, we will create a tailor-made plan together that will include everything that is important to you.
That means that there are options. Endless options! Anything is possible. If you can dream it, we’ll figure out a way to do it. I’ll help you navigate through the exciting world of elopement planning to make sure you end up exactly where you need to be. If you’d like me to, that is. Because there are also plenty of couples that already have it all figured out by the time they contact me. That’s also totally cool - just know you have your compass close whenever you need some direction.
Everything I do, is aimed at letting you experience your absolute dream elopement. I'll make sure that I really see and hear you, in a way that helps me co-create the day (or days!) you’ll remember for the rest of your lives. Proving that getting married is actually INCREDIBLY FUN and not stressful at all. Because let me remind you that this is your wedding and yours alone.

I want you to feel the wind on your faces again, even to remember what the ocean mist or red dirt road smelt like that day. Landscapes, therefore, take up a very important part of my work. When you see the photos, I want you to remember absolutely everything.

My approach to 'wedding photography' is perhaps a little less ‘traditional’ compared to what a lot of other photographers consider to be ‘the norm’. I used to be a documentary journalist and photographer, for magazines in The Netherlands where I’m originally from. That’s how I ended up in Africa. My eyes and brain, still work in the same way as they always have: I tell stories. I capture real moments and emotions. Real people. The big-big things, but also the little-big things that you might have missed, but I didn’t.

Of course! Going on an adventure doesn’t mean you have to hike, no matter what social media sometimes tells you. We can go by car, bike, 4x4 vehicle, boat, safari truck, horse, helicopter, tiny charter plane… there are so many options. Hiking is not the holy grail to adventure if it’s not your jam!

Absolutely! I photograph elopements with up to 12-15 guests max. Please keep in mind that the number of people you invite can impact where you can logistically elope in terms of locations.

If the elopement location can accommodate that safely, then yes yes yes yes yes!!! I do recommend having a friend or family member tag along when you bring your furry child. Just to make sure there’s always somebody to look after him or her should certain moments ask for that.

First of all, rain on your wedding day brings good fortune in African cultures. Haha! Second of all, wind and rain will make your images so spectacularly emotive and dramatic, you’ll feel so lucky after receiving those photos. And imagine the stories you get to tell about it, the adventure it became! I’m however also very serious about keeping you safe, so if stuff can potentially get out-of-hand-dangerous then we will have our Plan B ready. In South Africa we’ve basically invented the saying: “We can always make a plan!”

You will be receiving a large preview gallery within 48 hours of your elopement, because I can imagine you can’t wait to share what you’ve been up to with your loved ones back home. The rest of your gallery will arrive within 4-8 weeks.

It depends on your elopement. For a one-day adventure you can count on 600-700 fully edited images minimum. I curate, but I do not over-curate your gallery because I believe you should have the freedom to pick your winners yourself. You always look differently at yourself, compared to how I look at you. I just see a stunning human being! If there are ten very similar portraits from a certain angle, you don't just get one. You'll get all 10.

Sometimes, but never to change who you are. My Photoshop-skills do mean that I can remove blemishes on your skin or a distraction in the background. You will look your absolute best in your images, don’t worry. Not just by how I edit your images, but even more so by how I capture you in the moment of your elopement.

No. They are like the digital version of undeveloped film. The files are huge, you need special programs to view them and they are not print-ready. A RAW is very much an unfinished product. That’s why you will receive a large gallery of edited .jpg-files that are ready to be viewed, printed and shared!

No. I only photograph elopements. I do believe everybody should have their dream day, no matter what that looks like for you. So no judgment at all. If you’ve always dreamt of having a massive wedding - go for it! I’m just at my very best in tiny settings providing a customised and intimate experience to my couples, while being outside on an adventure :)
