Pure, African coastal vibes. Mozambique has one of the most authentic coastlines of the African continent if you’d ask me. Perfect for a barefoot Mozambique elopement wedding on the beach. Which is exactly what Nadia & Mano had in mind.

This stunning couple had me photograph their Mozambique elopement wedding in Vilanculos. A coastal town sat at the gateway to Mozambique’s Bazaruto Archipelago. They invited a small handful of their closest family and friends to celebrate with them. Because anybody who thinks you can’t do that when eloping, can think again!

I have a soft spot for Mozambique. Always have, and always will. Whenever people ask me about it, I sigh and dream of sandy tracks leading to turquoise-blue waters. People with smiles on their faces, coca-cola in old-fashioned glass bottles, fresh pao bread coming from the market and all the while keeping it unpolished like only Africa can.

From Cape Town to Vilanculos

It’s why Nadia and Mano came here, too. It would have been easily expected of them to throw a very fancy wedding bonanza somewhere in Cape Town where they are originally from. Instead, they decided to take their loved ones on an adventure. Because despite the fact that most of them live in South Africa, the majority of the small group had never been to Mozambique even though it’s one of South Africa’s neighbouring countries. So, Nadia and Mano invited them to get out of the city, ’meet the neighbours’ and escape the ordinary with them. They chose Tsai-Tsai beach villas to stay at, which had them strike absolute gold.

Vilanculos, Mozambique is on my list of the best places to elope in Africa.
